Senior Industrial Hygiene Consultant

Job Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Industrial Hygiene Consultant to manage IAQ and IH assessments, write proposals for prospective clients, serve as a subject matter expert, and support the development of expanded services. Work will be performed at client sites typically within the Chicagoland area. This is an experienced level role, and the ideal candidate will have a background in consulting services. The Senior IH Consultant will utilize problem solving and critical thinking skills to identify strategic solutions to customer’s environmental quality concerns. This role will report directly to the Founder and Chief Science Officer at Indoor Science.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assess indoor environments including, but not limited to, homes, offices, schools, public buildings, healthcare facilities, and industrial facilities.
  • Perform visual assessments of indoor environments and identify environmental quality concerns. Explain service offerings with technical accuracy.
  • Use scientific instrumentation and equipment to measure and monitor indoor air quality.
  • Collect various types of sample for identifying indoor environmental contaminants.
  • Evaluate work environments with area and personal monitoring to determine compliance with occupational health and safety rules.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for all matters related to industrial hygiene, including chemical, biological, particulate, and physical contaminants.
  • Accurately interpret the results of measurements and samples.
  • Understand and navigate regulatory occupational health and safety rules.
  • Draw conclusions based on the findings of the assessment.
  • Provide recommendations for corrective actions for issues discovered.
  • Speak with prospective clients and describe our company’s service offerings and related fees.
  • Write proposals for prospective clients.
  • Maintain and calibrate instruments and equipment. 
  • Train new staff in IAQ and IH principles.
  • Support strategic business growth and expansion initiatives.
  • Explain complex situations or issues in clear and concise summaries.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science (biology, chemistry, geology), industrial hygiene, environmental health, or related field of science
  • 6 years of experience in the field of environmental and IH consulting or similar
  • ABIH Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred, ACAC Certified Indoor Environmental Consultant (CIEC), or similar
  • State licenses for asbestos and lead preferred
  • Solid understanding of general principles of industrial hygiene
  • Apply knowledge of biological, chemical, and physical hazards
  • Understand the fundamentals of toxicology, epidemiology, public health, and environmental sciences
  • Ability to lead and influence stakeholders towards a common goal
  • Upper-level decision-making skills
  • Expertise in business management and statistical analysis
  • Physically able to crawl, climb, and walk on uneven surfaces such as scaffolding, rooftops, elevated platforms and temporary working surfaces
  • Possess driver’s license and vehicle

Industrial Hygiene Consultant

Environmental Account Specialist

Job Overview:

We are seeking an Environmental Account Specialist to work with our customer accounts, customer support and inbound sales. The Environmental Account Specialist will also utilize problem solving and critical thinking skills to identify strategic solutions to customer’s environmental concerns.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Answer technical and scientific questions of prospective clients.
  • Utilize environmental consulting expertise to create value propositions.
  • Explain service offerings with technical accuracy.
  • Manage scheduling of projects to match consultant expertise and licensing.
  • Provide customer support to existing clients including explaining technical concepts found in project reports.
  • Follow up with prospective and existing clients to manage customer relationships.
  • Manage content creation including an editorial calendar for the company blog.
  • Assisting environmental consultants with fieldwork when necessary.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science (biology, chemistry, geology), architecture, industrial hygiene, environmental science, environmental engineering or related field of science.
  • 1-2 years of experience in the field of environmental consulting or similar.
  • Proven experience as an Account Executive, or similar sales/customer service role.
  • Outstanding knowledge of MS Office; knowledge of CRM software (eg. Salesforce) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills and ability to build relationships.
  • Organizational and time-management skills.
